  • Qu'est-ce que je ferais sans toi?
Pronounced: kess kuh zhuh fur ay sohn twah?
Translated: What would I do without you? The subtlety is there and if your friend is interested, he/she will get the message loud and clear!
  • Est-ce que tu es aussi doux que tes yeux?
Pronounced: ess kuh too ay see doo ku tayz yuh?
Translated: Are you as sweet as your eyes are? Perhaps this is the right phrase just before a kiss?
  • Tu as de très beaux yeux.
Pronounced: too ah duh tray bo zyeh
Translated: You have beautiful eyes. Not so subtle flirting or a genuine compliment--it's all in how you say it.

  • Je ne peux pas vivre sans toi.
Pronounced: zhuh puh pah veevr sahn twah.
Translated: I can't live without you. A great way to lead up to a proposal for marriage. . .or just express your undying love!
  • Tu es la femme de mes rêves!
Pronounced: too ay lah femm duh mey rhev
Translated: You are the woman of my dreams. (Note: substitute 'l'homme' for 'la femme' if you're speaking to a man.)
  • Tu me rends fou.
Pronounced: too muh rhon foo
Translated: You drive me crazy! This is for that special person that you can't live with or without--again, it's all in how you say it.
  • Je vis d'amour et d'eau douce 
 Pronounced: zhuh vee dah moor ay doh doos
Translated: I live on love and fresh water. Although it doesn't translate well in English, it's a very common romantic French phrase.
